Manifesting with Intent: How to Prepare for the Success You Deserve

For a long time, I believed that if I wanted something, I had to be the one to force it into existence on my exact timeline. I was strict, I was persistent, and I was convinced that my plan was the only right one. But over the last few years—especially as I navigated my 30s—I’ve realised something far more beautiful: things align for us, even when it feels like they are happening to us.
Manifestation isn’t just about wishing; it’s a partnership between your disciplined effort and the universe’s timing. Here is exactly how I combine high-level strategy with the spiritual art of releasing the need.
1. Building Your System: How to Prepare for What You’re Asking For

Manifestation starts with being prepared for what you’re asking for. I don’t just “hope” for a better life; I build the structure to support it.
- Large-Scale Vision: Every year, I write my goals on large, thick paper (usually from an old wall calendar), in large fonts. I decide on priorities and the order in which I want to tackle them.
- Granular Discipline: I break big goals into daily and weekly tasks and add them to Google Calendar. It’s a to-do list going beyond just project work; I schedule everything from meal times and shop runs to “zone out” windows. These small windows (usually 1 hour) help me stay productive, procrastinate less, and ensure I don’t forget the small steps that lead to big results.
- Scheduled Growth: I always set aside time for personal development—whether it’s a course, a podcast, or a webinar. Sticking to a routine, like working on my website or coursework on weekends and in the mornings, ensures I am consistently growing into the person who deserves the goals I’ve set.
2. Sharpening the Tools: The Preparation Phase
One of the most important manifestations in my career happened because I did the “background work” long before the opportunity arrived.
Before my raise, I read The Art of Explanation book. It’s written by ex-BBC presenter Ros Atkins and includes useful tips on scripts and preparation. Aside from valuable guides on verbal and written communication, I learned tips for successful presenting, which is a large part of my managerial role. The more you memorise your script, the less you rely on notes, making you appear natural and confident. And of course, practice makes it perfect.
When it came time for a major in-person report, I implemented everything. I used graphics and bullet points to guide my audience while I spoke naturally from my notes. I stayed on time and nailed the presentation. This wasn’t just a “win”—it became the physical evidence and the argument I needed when it was time to ask for a raise.

3. The Shift: How to Move from ‘Needing’ to ‘Deserving’
I tend to keep my desires private. Instead of a physical board on my wall, I use the Gratitude app. It’s free, portable, and allows me to upload images and captions of what I’m manifesting.
But here is the important step: I set the thought, I do the work, and then I release it. I’ve shifted my mindset from “I need this badly or else” to “I want it, it would be great if it happens, and it will happen because I deserve it.” I combine this with affirmation and gratitude episodes. When we show God or the universe that we are content with what we have, we make space to receive more.

4. Real-World Results: How I Manifested a 7% Raise
Last year, my manifestation goal was to manage my finances better. I started educating myself through platforms like Female Invest, opened a savings account, and began investing to beat inflation. I knew my balance and followed my 50-30-20 budget.
More about this in my post How I Started Managing My Money in My 30s.
I was telling the universe: “I can handle more because I am managing what I already have.”
When my manager was away, I had to email the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). I was nervous, but my manifestation work and my successful presentation gave me the confidence to stand up for myself. I asked for what I believe I deserved.
Interestingly, I had wanted a raise the year prior and felt frustrated when it didn’t happen on my timeline. But by releasing that bitterness and continuing to improve my performance, things finally aligned. I didn’t just get a raise—I got a 7% increase because the company chose to invest in me rather than hire a new Marketing Exec.
5. Trusting the Process

Whether it’s a career jump or a romantic relationship, you can’t force the timeline. During the pandemic, I was jobless for five months. I spent 8 hours a day applying for jobs and creating strategies. It was stressful, but I stayed disciplined and distracted myself by spending time with the people in my household to keep the worry at bay.
Looking back, I realise why it came later than I wanted: the universe’s timeline was better than mine.
Try this: Focus on the goal, do the work, and then let go of the “need.” Trust that it will happen for you when it’s supposed to. Don’t give up just because it isn’t happening your way yet. Keep moving, keep believing, and keep making space for the “more” that is coming your way.
